Commercial opportunities for business expansion, investment and employment in Newtown are being promoted as part of a push on available property in the town to local companies, as well as those seeing to expand into the area.

Mid Wales estate agent and property surveyors Morris, Marshall and Poole says the the availability of such property is an asset to the town. It has been appointed as the agent promoting the Mochdre Business Park, one of Newtown’s largest business and industrial estates, as well as working oon behalf of other commercial landlords and property owners elsewhere in the area.

Kathryn Davies, a Chartered Surveyor at Morris, Marshall and Poole, said new investment, employment and expansion could be created through the current availability of business and commercial premises, particularly with the onset of work on the town’s bypass which could help attract new business into the area through improved communications in and around the town.

We’re currently marketing over 20 commercial properties in the town alone ranging from 86sq ft to 13,785sq ft in the town,” said Kathryn.

“The portfolio of property in Newtown includes retail, commercial and industrial, from the Bear Lanes shopping centre in the town centre with a range of retail units, to the Vastre Industrial Estate, offices at units at the St Giles Business Park and a large unit on the Dyffryn Industrial Estate.

“The addition of the Mochdre Business Park includes units ranging from 703sq ft to 4,995sq ft.”

Kathryn said there is currently a lot of interest from businesses seeking larger premises or additional space in the Severn Valley and Newtown, as Powys’ largest town, was a key location for many of these.

“Newtown has historically been a town thriving on business and manufacturing. When you look around the town and the business and industrial parks you realise what a diverse range of employers are there, ranging from small businesses to the area’s largest employers.

“Bringing a range of commercial units to the market means there a wide range of choice for those seeking to expand in the town or relocate,” added Kathryn.
