A successful Mid Wales-based honey producer has acquired commercial premises in Newtown as part of its expansion.
Hilltop Honey has bought a 13,785sq ft business unit at the Dyffryn Enterprise Park in Newtown, Powys through Mid Wales and Shropshire estate agents and property surveyors Morris, Marshall and Poole.
The deal will see the honey producer move from its current base in Caersws, Powys to Unit 5 on the enterprise park alongside the main A483 trunk road in Pool Road.
“It’s great to see a successful local food producer moving into what has been one of the largest commercial units available for sale in Newtown in recent years,” said Kathryn Evans, a property surveyor at Morris, Marshall and Poole which marketed and acted on behalf of the property’s owners.
“The unit is in a prime location in terms of accessibility into and out of Newtown, allowing Hilltop Honey good access to its clients throughout the UK. The unit itself is large and capable for production and storage, so is ideal for such a company.”
The sale was completed in January for an undisclosed amount. Hilltop Honey founder, Scott Davies, said: “Following continued growth we have needed to expand our premises and the unit in Newtown was ideal for our purposes.
"We’re looking forward to getting on with the work of fitting out the unit for the development and production of our award winning honey products.”
Hilltop Honey names Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Fortnum and Mason among a long line of customers.
“We wish Hilltop Honey all the best with their expansion,” added Mrs Evans of MMP.
Morris, Marshall and Poole is Mid Wales’ oldest established estate agents and property surveyors, providing sales, lettings and leases on commercial, industrial and residential properties in the area.
